Utilize Googles Tools.
This one seems obvious but often times people will just think of a list of words or phrases that they want to rank for without doing any research into the amount of traffic those words generate. This can result in putting the focus on an area that has low to little search traffic and will do nothing to boost the number of people coming to your page. There are lots of tools available for free to check how your website and your desired keywords are performing. Aside from the tools that Google provides its users such as Google analytics, search console, and AdWords, there are also many good tools that are not provided by Google. Some examples of these tools are Ubersuggest a tool that shows search traffic and projected cost per click on keywords, any of the tools in the Moz tool family are extremely valuable and powerful options as well.
Don’t Let Your Page Die.
A common misconception about web design and digital marketing is that once the website is live you are done. Although you are done with the hard part, this is just the beginning of building a web presence. You need to be updating content, addresses, and dates, this continued activity helps build trust with your page because it confirms the reason for your page’s existence. This not only applies to your website but also to any and all social media platforms your company is using such as Facebook or LinkedIn. One thing I have learned over the years of being is that an inactive social media is worse than not having a presence at all.
Respond to the Neigh Sayers
Many people believe that if you respond to the negative commentary on the internet you are just playing into a trap. More often than not these angry comments are just that, they are angry about something that happened or something they felt should have happened. According to Sherry Bonelli, from BrightLocal, responding to negative comments is beneficial because 70% of buying experiences are based on how the customer feels they have been treated. This means that by acknowledging their post and that they are upset and then acting to correct it will take a bad situation and turn it into a win! Not only does this make your customers satisfied but it also makes Google happy. Google wants to keep as many users on their platform as possible, so the more information users can find and have answered right on Google the happier Google and their algorithms will be.
